Are You a Nobody?

Are You a Nobody?

By Joe Palmer

Do you every feel like a nobody: insignificant in the grand scheme of life? Perhaps we all do. But here is some good news. By being a “Nobody” you can make a huge impact on the world for generations to come.

Here is a test. Name the last Mrs. America? The world series MVP in the year 2000? The last Pulitzer prize winner? The 15th president of the United States?

Now name? The teacher who made the greatest impact on your life? The friend you turned to in your last crisis? The person who gave you your first real job? The person who taught you the gospel? The person who baptized you?

If you got any of the first answers without looking them up you are better than I am. If you didn’t get all of the second set we need to talk. In the worlds eyes the first list are somebody’s and the later list is likely nobodies. But, the people who made the most impact in our personal lives were the “Nobodies.” The people we could remember and call by name are “Nobodies.”

“I’m just a Nobody, telling Everybody, about Somebody, who can save Anybody!”

I want you to think about who it was that shared the gospel with you. Recall that story in your mind. Where would you be without that person? Maybe it was your parents, or a friend, or a youth minister. Now recall all the people that have impacted your continued faith. Recall the person who may have set you back on the right path with a word of encouragement, or an appropriate word or instruction.

The person who has helped you know the Lord, or reconnected you with the Lord has impacted your life, the life of your family, and everyone you have touched. That person’s influence will not only be felt for generations but for eternity. So I salute all the “Nobody’s” out there in the world who continue to make a difference to somebody.

How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach unless they are sent? Romans 10:14,15
